Peng Peng - The Australian Pavilion Mascot

Peng Peng, the Australian pavilion's kookaburra mascot, is a cheeky little bird, who loves having fun. He's a very early riser and always wakes up in a good mood, so good in fact that sometimes he can't help but laugh.

He lives in a big park in the middle of the city, with his mother, father and sister. He looks forward to visiting his grandparents in the Australian bush and likes to spend his summer holidays at the beach.

He's studying Chinese at school and learning about Chinese history and culture. When he grows up, he wants to be an architect so he can design amazing buildings like the pavilions at the Shanghai World Expo. He wants his buildings to be good for the environment and good for the people that live in them.

He has been lucky enough to have visited Shanghai a few times in the last year. While he was there he enjoyed meeting his new friend Haibao, the Expo mascot. Haibao is helping him practice his Chinese so that he can make lots of friends during the Shanghai World Expo.

Next time he is in Shanghai he would like to go to the top of the Pearl Tower, practice Tai Chi on the Bund and try delicacies like Xiăolóngbāo. But most of all, he can't wait to see the Australian pavilion, his future home away from home.

If you are in Shanghai for the World Expo in 2010 and you see Peng Peng make sure to say "hello".
